At the beginning, perhaps the best thing to do is to give your bf the space he needs. The more you call him and try to win him back, the less likely it is that he’ll come back. Many men want to experience something different in their lives and that does not necessarily mean that your relationship is over. Don’t beg him to come back to you or make other common mistakes.
Move on with your own life. If you show your ex you are not just sitting and dwelling on the fact that he left, and that you are also moving on as well, your ex boyfriend might become interested again. But, be patient. It will take a while for him to realize what he lost. Think - how did you make him fall in love with you in the first place? He fell for you once - remember what he fell for and then reinforce those qualities again.
